Friends Of Plockton Music School
Friends of Plockton Music School is a Charitable Trust that was established in 2012 to support the work of the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music in Plockton, on the West Coast of Scotland.
The school teaches some of Scotland’s most talented young musicians and the Trust was established in 2012 to help support the work of the school after budget cuts threatened some of the school’s non-core work, such as the production of the annual CD and the end-of-term-tour, activities that are really important to the development of the musicians.
The Music School is run by Dougie Pincock, a multi-instrumentalist who started playing pipes with Neilston and District Pipe Band in the mid-seventies, and who went on to plat full time with The Battlefield Band for a number of years before moving into teaching. He is recognised as an inspirational teacher and the driving force behind the success of the school.
