About Fergus

Fergus Muirhead has years of experience helping people manage their money, both as a professionally qualified Certified Financial Planner and as a regular writer and broadcaster across a wide range of programmes, magazines and newspapers.

These days he can be heard on a variety of BBC Scotland shows advising viewers and listeners on money and consumer issues. Fergus was a regular on GMTV and has also appeared on Channel 4 hit programme Location Location Location. He was Woman’s Own Consumer Champion for five years, helping hundreds of readers find solutions to their consumer problems.

He delivers his advice, whether directly to his clients, in print or on air, in an imaginative, clear, and easy to understand manner that cuts across all of the jargon and muddle often associated with the financial world. He has a no nonsense approach to helping consumers stand up to the poor service culture that exists across much of the UK today.

Fergus is also a musician. He has played the bagpipes all over the world. He has played with the Chieftains at the London Palladium and with Carlos Nunez in Dublin, Barcelona and Vigo. He has recorded albums with Scottish folk bands Molendinar and Ceolbeg as well as with the Chieftains and Carlos Nunez.

Fergus is well known as a compere and speaker and has been involved in every Piping Live Festival since it began in 2004. He is also a regular at the popular William Kennedy Festival in Armagh.

He is a regular speaker on the Burns Supper circuit, performing at the British Embassy in Rome and the Centro Asturiano in Barcelona with Tam O’Shanter and the Immortal Memory being particular specialities. This year he performed the Address to the Haggis in three different languages on three consecutive nights.
